Wine Review: This opaque and midnight purple colored Petite Sirah from Stags Leap Winery opens with a faint black licorice and chocolate bouquet with hints of fig. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, very smooth, seamless, and lush. The flavor profile is a brambleberry and dark chocolate blend with notes of black licorice and black cherry. I also detected hints of stony minerality, black pepper, and a touch of tobacco. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and its very dusty tannins build-up and stick around for quite a while. I would pair this Petite Sirah with poor man’s burnt ends. Enjoy - Ken
